In this lab, we study the chemicals that help our brain cells communicate with each other via various signaling molecules. By understanding these tiny messengers, we can learn more about how our brains work, how we can improve mental health, and how to treat neurological diseases.
Protein chemistry techniques are important to understand brain functioning. Here we isolate and study various proteins found in the brain to understand their roles better. We use techniques like Western blotting to detect specific proteins. These techniques help uncover how proteins contribute to brain function and how changes in these proteins can lead to neurological disorders.
Study brain proteins
Study brain anatomy
Study hormones and neurotransmitter alterations during normal and disease
Oxidative changes in neurodegeneration
Nutraceuticals and phytochemicals, and their protective functions
Testimonials
My internship experience in the neurochemistry lab at Christ University, Central Campus, has been a transformative experience. Working under Mythri Ma'am provided me with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of neuroscience through hands-on experience and an intellectually stimulating environment. From processing brain tissue to analyzing biochemical properties, each task helped me improve my critical thinking and my knowledge on the subject. I received immense support from Mythri Ma'am and the Department, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to contribute and learn in such a forward-thinking research environment.

My name is Adhil Asharaf and I am coming from NITTE University, Mangalore. I worked at Neurochemistry lab under Dr. Mythri Rajeswara Babu for one month. It was a wonderful experience and she was very helpful. She trained us with different skills and she gave us the opportunity of hands-on training. With the guidance of her we got better results in the experiments and we got good project result. Ma’am was well responsive to the questions and concerns, and overall commitment was there. The report from the Neurochemistry lab were easy to understand and provided the information I needed. I was very happy with the service and would help in my future studies.
